993 rear brake light and spoiler/rear screen

Please advise on removal of rear brake light and spoiler.

Sealer used, if any, when refitting rear screen seal?

My 993 is 1994 with high level brake light set in narrow plastic spoiler. I need to facilitate removal for paint repairs. On another matter, where do I locate the engine number? Thanks.

Eh ? I've got a "hoop" type spoiler fitted below the rear window to my coupe by a previous owner. Normally they were fitted to Targas or Cabs only. Surely you wouldn't have to remove the glass ? Or is yours the type above the window ?

Confused from Homington

PS the engine number's on the engine (sorry couldn't resist that) where the fan cowling meets the crankcase. You'll need a small torch to see it. Mine starts 63E.......

PPS the rear window is bonded, not sealed. Definitely not a job for the DIY enthusiast. If it breaks on removal, you'll need a fitter standing by and new windows are definitely not cheap.

Thanks Mark. Spoiler was probably the wrong description - actually it was the high level brake light cowl! I am not intending to remove rear glass, just the sealer round the outside, between the edge of the glass and the bodywork, which I've already done to facilitate touching up of paintwork. I'd already spotted the number on the engine, but thought it was too obvious! Thanks for your help. Richard
