993 Rear reflector panel

The reflector panel on my 993 has faded and instead of being shiny has a dull matt finish. This is probably due to exposure to the sun. Has anybody got a spare panel or know of a good parts supplier other than a Porsche Centre?

When I looked into this, admittedly about 3 years ago now, pretty much everywhere was same (horrendous) price once you took into account the club discount at Porsche and the duty/postage if you get it from the US.

Watch out that there are two different part numbers - the one for US cars does not contain the rear fog lights.

Hi
I had this problem, it realy detracted from the rear view of the car. I tried polishing and it didn't do much to help, in fact I think that was the source of the problem, someone polishing it in the past. I did a number of tests on scrap acrylic brake light pieces and found that several coats of clear gloss acrylic spray, rubbed down between coats produced a very good finnish. 12 months old now and still looking very nice. Detail.. I removed by sanding all the fine lettering which is moulded into the exterior surface. I didn't want it to clogg up and detract from the look and if it's not there you don't miss it. (I'm not talking about the big Porsche lettering inside, Im talking about the little stuff 2mm ish outside)

1997 993 Cab... where's the bloddy sunshine

Agree with RSIMON I spent may an hour with various remedies that have worked wonders before and only managed to make it worse []. One word of warning if you replace the reflector with a new you will probably need to get new lenses all round [8|]

I would try the polish/laquer route first, the trouble is they all do this over time so a used one might be as bad

The are £315 + vat from Porsche, we have them at £255+

You could try these boys

Good luck with them. Everytime I have tried to get a part from them they never seem to have what I want.
