993 Register kick-off meeting Summer 2020
Dear 993 Enthusiast,

All change…
It is with a mixture of sadness and personal trepidation that I have to report that Maurice Piper, our previous 993 Register Secretary, has very recently resigned. As a keen 993 owner myself, I have volunteered to hold the fort over this prestigious Register of over 1200 members until another willing and worthy candidate can be found to take the role forward more permanently.

I would firstly like to personally thank Maurice for the significant amount of work he has put in over the years supporting the Club and raising the profile of the 993 Register in particular. I am hoping that I will be able to fill the 993 shoes appropriately in the short term! I am also delighted to announce that our Register Assistant Christian Sanger will be continuing to support us with his wealth of technical knowledge of the 993 marque. I am sure that Christian will continue to be a very valuable asset to the register going forward.

Zooming away with your 993
With the next 12 months of Porsche Club GB 993 activity in mind, I would like to invite you all to our first 993 Register Zoom meeting of 2020 on Thursday 18 June at 7:30pm. The purpose of our meeting will be to establish a friendly virtual meeting point to discuss all things 993 going forward.

As well as the formality of initial introductions, I would like to propose that the theme of the evening will be ‘My favourite 993 picture/story’.This can be as simple as your current car on the drive or a story of an adventure in your 993 that you are prepared to share. Alternatively, if you would like to just sit and listen to what happens as an observer that is totally fine too. Please feel to bring along a beverage of your choice to help the evening move along (alcoholic or otherwise!).

In view of the fact that we may hopefully soon be able to meet with our cars, I would also like to hear from anyone who has any specific events or ideas for the Register going forward. For example, a re-run of the very popular 993 technical seminar both online and live is on the list, followed by at least one significant 993 and coffee meet in each area of the country (north, south, east and west).

Many thanks for taking the time to read this and I hope to see and hear from you all on Thursday 18 June at 7.30pm. You should all have recently received a mailchimp with meeting details.

Also, I am hoping we can set up at least two 993 specific meet ups in the north and south of the UK. Let’s see what the government allows us to do and when.

Stay safe,

Mark Hamilton
Temporary 993 Register Secretary

Well done Mark for stepping upto the plate.

I may not be able to attend the Zoom on the 18th. However, I am looking forward to the 993 and other PCGB events once we get the all clear
to hit the road again and meet up.[;)]

Mark - many thanks for running the Zoom last night - it was really great to meet so many 993 members (I think you said there were 40 of us online). As someone else said: Zoom, while not as good as a real meeting, does at least allow more of us (from further afield) to get together and talk-technical (and non-technical) about our cars.

More please!

Can I echo that . It was great having a chance to meet with other 993 enthusiasts and to get such helpful advice from Christian. Also, good to put a face to Mark Elder's name. I have taken his advice many times on the Forum.
I would welcome an opportunity to have a real meet up when that is possible and to connect up with others from Yorkshire, the N West and beyond. I am based in Sheffield.

Great effort Mark and it was great to meet everyone too!
look forward to seeing everyone in due course and to our next virtual meet.
David

Many thanks David and to all the other recent replies regarding our 993 meet yesterday evening. Please put a date in your diaries for the 3rd Thursday of every month at 7:30 pm. Joining details will remain the same for ease of login and I will follow up with a mailchimp a week beforehand with an agenda of topics. Speaking of which, if there are any Topics you wish to cover as a priority, please reply here or mail me. Regards, Mark
