993 respray

Guys what's your thoughts on changing the colour of a 993 when I say change I mean change to complete different colour up to date say gt sliver on a 993 turbo what do think this will do to the value of the car might sound crazy your thoughts please
 
If you do then i think you can kiss good bye turning down any more offers of £54k. Still its your car and your money but i wouldn`t personally do it.

Getting it resprayed doesn`t make it any more rare. If however it was like that from the factory that would be a nice touch but again not sure it would add much value.

Didnt you just say in another post you love Arena red?
 


A colour change will undoubtedly significantly reduce the residual value on a low mileage car in prestine condition, more so if it happens to be relatively rare car. The effect will be much less so on a higher mileage car and even less if it also happens to be reasonably common and may, if the right choice of colour, actually increase the price.

Silver is to my mind something of a noughties colour and in a couple of years will be harder to shift than a white car was a few years back. Personally I have always hated both silver and white as a car colour - I think it's because they give you so little reward for spending a weekend washing, waxing and polishing them.

You could always go for a full wrap Andreas. That has the advantage of being the colour you want while you own it but it can be removed at a later date. It will also protect the original paint from stonechips, etc. Done right it's hard to distinguish from the real thing (until you open a door that is [8|]). The only issue is I have heard that removal of the wrap can sometimes lift the top laquer coat but this may be down to poor removal techniques rather than an issue with the wrap.


 
I've heard about these wraps on cars never really looked into it but thanks for a great idea il look into it and has anyone tried this route of wraping there car and if so what did you think ?
 
If its well documented bare shell re-spray to the complete car, I don't think the value will be reduced.

However if its just the outside of the car then it will have a significant impact on the value
