Hello all,

Does anyone know what fittings Porsche sold for the Roof Transport System that was sold for the 993? I have just taken delivery of this item (just the roof bars) and now would like to attach somehthng to it - preferrably a roof box and Porsche original kit if possible.

Thanks in anticipation

Good question!

I'm taking the TT to Le Mans next year and there will be three of us in the car plus camping equipment. I don't think i have any choice!

Hi
I have just purchased normal roof bars and a smaller type collapsable canvasy type roof box from Halfords for camping. I did not want one of those great fibreglass things. This is just about the same size as the roof.

I was hoping Porsche may still make or have made a nice sleak box as befits their cars? I had to buy the roof bars from the Munich OPC as UK has no stock (that it could locate), so i'm thinking i may need to do the same for a box as well - and it would be easier to locate if i could get a part number! BUT it would be nice to see what they look like first - or even know if they exist!

btw - had a brief look at some pics posted on this forum last night and i must say, you guys have some beautiful cars. even a white TT, i think which looked very cool.[8D]

all the best

Sector - Many thanks for that suggestion - i'll certainly take a look in Halfords if the boxes are really too ghastly!

Tim,

What was cost/how did you order from the Munich OPC? What is the part number? - I've wanted to get a roof system but don't really want a generic system that's not "made to measure". If I have a system I know I'll use the car more.
Thanks

I bought the last one from Munich OPC, sorry.

However i have details of another dealer in Europe which may have one, BUT it is on my work computer - so may not be able to get it till Monday.

i'll send the part number and cost later as well - once i have found where the invoice has gone. I place the order via email, once i'd located the dealers website. The guy who responded was not the guy i emailed (i picked a person at random from the their service department!) but they were very efficient and polite and took the order by email and their responses were in near perfect English.

all the best

Tim,
Thanks - yes, when you get to your work computer it would be good to get any info you have on part-number or possible sources etc.

Here's the invoice details from [FONT=arial"]Porsche Zentrum München[FONT=verdana, geneva"]:

[FONT=arial"]993.801.055.00 rooftransport system € 351,85 [FONT=verdana,geneva"][FONT=verdana,geneva"] [FONT=arial"][FONT=verdana,geneva"][FONT=arial"]Transportcharge € 57,00 [FONT=verdana,geneva"][FONT=verdana,geneva"] [FONT=arial"]Total € 408,85 including VAT[FONT=verdana,geneva"][FONT=verdana,geneva"] [FONT=arial"][FONT=verdana,geneva"] [FONT=verdana,geneva"] [FONT=arial"]Usually it takes around 3-5 days to send it to England.[FONT=verdana,geneva"][FONT=verdana,geneva"] [FONT=arial"][FONT=verdana,geneva"]
Not cheap, but i could find no other source. Also the rack does seem to be a quality item.

[FONT=verdana, geneva"] [FONT=arial"][FONT=verdana, geneva"] The other dealer who may have one is:

Porsche dealer in Mannheim 0621/4836621

You may want to locate this dealer via www.porsche.de, then email them if you are not comfortable simply to call up!

Good luck and i hope this is of use,

tim

Hi,

Thats interesting - any ideas if they would have the roof bars for a 993 Cabriolet?

I'd assumed these items would be well out of production by now

I'm sure you are right - these racks can only be old stock. There is every chance a Cabrio or Targa rack is also out there somewhere!

Why not try emailing the guy at Porsche.de who put me onto Munich and the other place? His name / email address is:

Marc Noack [Marc.Noack@porsche.de]

He was able to search the German central stock and dealers.

good luck
