993 Strut Brace

Mears

New member
I'm thinking of fitting a strut brace to my Targa, hoping that the added rigidity will also reduce the squeaking around the windscreen. Presumably fitting should be simple or are the strut topbolts a problem?
I'm particularly keen to identify a brace with compact end fittings (perhaps 2-bolt rather than 3) to reduce the need to hack the boot liner around to fit. Can anybody make any suggestions please? (many websites simply don't show the end fittings and I know that some are very ungainly!)

I have found the perfect solution for you.

Fitted mine just yesterday.

Years ago i used a strut brace purchased from JZ Machtech for around £200, was alloy ended with a powder coated middle section (in black).
Was a two bolt fixing at either end and i simply put a slit into the carpet at either end.

Kept the strut brace each time i sold a car, so had the same one fitted to all four of my 993s :)

Wow that's the best looking and probably mechanically best strut brace I've ever seen! 'almost too good as I had been thinking of strapping my fire extinguisher to it, which needs it on top of the boot liner of course! How did you fix DIY carriage from here and did import duty catch you out? It looks costly all in! Thanks

Great thanks. I can't see one on JZM's website but I'll try and give them a call. You obviously can see the benefits of the brace or you wouldn't keep moving it from car to car!
