Recently I had the driver side tailpipe fall off on the roads from my 1996 993. It broke off right on the flange, so it is not possible to simply install a new tail pipe without the flange. Has anyone had experience with the various solutions to solve the problem? Thanks John

Had exactly the same problem about 18 months ago. Decided to upgrade the silencers to RSR's at Gert Carnewal in Belgium. This was going to be a cheaper (and better!) solution that buying a new Porsche silencer. Because of the damage they couldn't exchange them but would repair them - the charge at that time was EUR400 including TVA (VAT) and either fitting or shipping. Rather than pay for them to be removed here in the UK, shipped to Gert, fixed, shipped back and then fitted I opted to drive to Belgium. Left a clients in London on the Thursday night, stopped over in Calais and drove to Belgium on Friday morning. Gert removed the silencers, turned them into RSR's, fixed the tail pipe (I think he used the pipe of another damaged one), shot blasted the tips, sprayed the silencers and refitted them - all for the EUR400. Brilliant job and I was back in Reading by early evening the same day. Obviously I had the travel costs but they weren't too great as I got as cheapy deal on the tunnel and the overnight hotel and I'd saved on labour costs here to remove and refit.

Watch out for the rear skirt melting - I has some problems with this after the tail pipe fell off.

Here's Gert Carnewal's website

Check out the exchange RSR mufflers for the P93 and if you're interested then email him and get a quote and his advice.
