993 tail switch

Would be grateful for feedback on costs and issues associated with a 993 tail switch - going from original fit turbo aero tail to standard on a 2s.

I had heard to budget £2k. Any direct experience out there on doing this, issues and costs.

I am assuming all appropriate electronics etc are still down there.

Would paint match ( 2S) be an immediate issue as colour coded. Had hoped someone out there might do an opposite swap in which case costs would be much lower.

Thoughts/experience welcome.

If you are looking for an original carrera s spoiler--they are fairly hard to come by second hand--I have been looking for several months--I evenuallty purchased one second hand with boot lid--les motor and wiring--the motor alone can set you back £100. I know that Gert Carnewal sells 2s spoilers, I had this quote from him last June

The total :
400 "" 30 for the electric tail = 370
268 for the split grill
Shipping 15 Euro
Total : 653+21% VAT = 790,13 Euro

About £560 plus painting--which you will need to budget £2 - £300 for.

Hope this is helpful.

Thanks for feedback on tail switch. So about £1k ish. It has been a long while since I got my hands dirty. Would this cost cover getting an indepdnent to do all the switching work. Would I expect any issues between 9 year old paint and new re colour match?

Would the ex aero have any reasonable value to offset.

If your car is fitted with a genuine turbo spoiler then you should be able to sell it for £750 to £1,000, they do come up on ebay on a regular basis.

Sorry the work is actually pretty simple the majority of the work will be in the preparing the new spoiler for painting, etc----it is worth getting an independent to check that your engine cover hasn't been modified in anyway so as not to accept the spoiler.

If the aerokit was factory fitted I would take the whole engine lid off and store it somewhere for when you sell it.

Buy a second had engine lid either off ebay or from one of the Porsche breakers and get a split grill from somewhere like Carnewal and have them painted. Probably same cost as trying to take what you have apart.
