Hi,
Can anyone help with obtaining a replacement 993 targa roof axle support. I know everyone says dont buy the targa but i saw it and could not resist.
I have a 96 which has a drivers side glass roof axle support that has broken in half. It looks like a cast component - did anyone try welding a repair or i note sunset porsche do a 300 dollar replacement.
Someone in the UK or even Europe must stock something?
Everything else works great - have not tried opening roof so assume the cable should not be a problem and the part is a quick 2 bolt replacement and align - or can you tell me different!
Thanks
Graham

Sorry can't help Graham, but I also have a Targa, but with a fully functional roof. I've had the car 3 years and never a problem, so far.

I am interested in any responses to your quest, as I assume sooner or later I might need parts.

Hi Graham

I also have a Targa nearly 8 years now with no issues.

Have you tried Reading OPC? Some bit are cheap. or you could try Greg at Tognola in Datchet

Good Luck

I was talking to our erstwhile asst register person Christian the other week and he told me all parts were still available from Porsche and a lot are not that expensive, by Porsche standards. He also pointed out that a lot of the rubbers shrink and need replacing and that the rubber between the two panes and the two thin ones down the side next to the glass are actually meant to be furry versions!

So try your nearest Porsche OPC and dont forget your 10% discount card.

I never cease to be amazed by the fact that everything I have ever wanted or needed to get for my sixteen odd year old 993 is still available from the main dealer brand new, even obscure bits of interior trim. Much of it is actually still being manufactured, it's not even old new stock [8|]

Either get hold of a copy of PET and give your nearest PC a phone with the part number or pay them a visit and look at the screen with the parts guy as he wont be too familier with the 993 and you'd end up with a lengthy phone call and probably the wrong part []

I'll be surprised if the part you need isn't available for collection at the PC within two days.

... decided to give PC a call and yes you are correct they stock the rear axle support at around £159
Many thanks for the idea
Regards
Graham
