The windscreen in my 993 Targa has not been fitted correctly and is not properly aligned resulting in the seal not fully covering the gap between body and screen.

Can anyone recommend a fitter in the Somerset area that could remove and refit my screen?

Many thanks

Richard

I can't recommend anyone but whoever you do get watch them like a hawk to ensure they don't damage the paint when cutting the screen out.

I would try living with it the way it is if I were you (as I have with mine). If the rubber catches the edge the gap can be filled with mastic to stop it slipping into the void.

The is a chap on the various forums (Pistonheads etc) who goes by the forum ID of Glassman who seems to have a good reputation with 993 screens and seems to understand the problems and how they should be fitted. Do a google search on Glassman and you will see lots of stuff. I don't know which areas he covers but it is worth finding somebody who knows the pitfalls of 993 screens.

I lived with that scenario for about 3 years and eventually decided to have the screen replaced owing to some unfortunate chips right in the line of vision.

I'm glad I did because the corrosion that had appeared since the last scuttle repair (when the screen was badly fitted by the original Porsche Approved bodyshop) was truly shocking and the new repair needed extensive new metalwork letting into the flange.

Don't put it off - I used the "new" approved bodyshop locally and they fitted the new screen perfectly.

Mastic just traps the moisture....
