Hi All,
Am a new member but don't hsve a car yet, but am seriously thinking of a 2 S manual that I have just driven and thought it was Great.
But should I pay £30k for it ; P reg. 80k miles FSH plus new clutch, suspension rebuild and brakes done, in Boxster blue plus non working A/C
and 3 months warranty.
Comments please on minus points & plus points ,

Thanks, Tim Little

To me £30K, for an S, on 80K miles does not seem totally unreasonable if its from one of the well recognised dealers. I think that Paragon have a non-S near that price currently (a bit less miles).

There have been a few recent S purchasers on here recently - I'm sure they will be along shortly with some more first hand knowledge of the current market.

That's about on the money or in fact quite cheap for a trade deal. I'm guessing it's a non-porsche garage? if so then I see little benefit over a private car and in which case it's quite strong money for the miles and should be in very good condition. You would want the car fully prepared for sale at that price with all niggles like the A/C and any paint issues corrected.

With these cars you get what you pay for, and if you can accept a slightly scruffier example that needs some TLC then they can be had for as little as 27-30. The immaculate fully prepared <70k cars are around 33-35 and even more for the most desirable colour combo's. Then there's a raft of cars that sit neatly between the two.

It's worth adding that for the price you'll pay for the cheapest S you could buy a very tidy narrow bodied car, but if like me the S is the only one for you then you'll need to pay the money. You'll always recoup the difference come resale time though so consider the S premium as an investment [:D]

Just remeber that a dealers second hand car (be it independant or Porsche Centre) is only someone elses car.
The slaesman knows nothing about the car (other than what you can look at for yourself) ie the papaerwork.
(and even if there was a negative would they say so unless asked?[:-])
If you can speak to previous owners or if the car was in the club contact RO etc.
The only safe route unless you are a Porsche Techi is for a PI - recommend Peter Morgan.[;)]

Hi All,
Thanks for your advice, the guy selling it has hisv small business buying and selling performance cars in Cheshire and has had the recent work by Unit Eleven in Warrington, who would also do a complete check on it, but the original service book has been stolen ! but a copy of all mots plus bills is available.
Should I haggle on the A/c work, he's willing to get it done at trade, but me to pay.
The Seller seems a good decent guy and is known to the North West region guys and has done several talks to them.
Only problem I've got with dealers is that they seem to at the opposite end of the counrty,
But I guess I need to look at 1 or 2 more,
Thanks,
Tim

Presume you'll be lining up to get your copy signed at 993 Question Time ?

cheers, Maurice [8D]

Well no not quite - I would need some payment for my services [;)] I would not want to see anyone buy a lemon - I cannot think of a worse experience than getting a car home only to find it had been bent and repaired etc[X(]
