993 TT

I have recently purchased a 993 tt (very similar to the one reviewed in Autocar this week - same colour and everything!). The car has apparently got the 430 bhp power upgrade - how do identify this in the car papers from the car itself?

Many thanks
G

There are two / maybe three things to look for, to see if it's the Porsche 430hp kit::
1. Look for the additional oil cooler behind the front bumper - lower right as you look at the openning in the bumper.
2. Look under the passenger seat and check the part number on the ECU, as this will have been changed. On mine it reads 993 618 681 85
3. On mine, the mod was done by an OPC when the car was ~18m old. They also added a sticker to the service book. This has the part number of the new ECU and is stuck on the inside of the first page, over the options sticker.

(enjoy the car, btw. what mileage, colour interior, options etc where from, please post photos!!)

best regards

Ex-factory upgrades will have X50 with all the other option codes on your white stickers, in handbook and on boot lid underside.

It does have the additional oil cooler at the front , haven't checked the ECU.

The car is Iris Blue, black leather interior with sports heated seats. 80,000 miles, 7 owners (but huge file of bills invoices with the car, sports exhaust (cargraphic I think - haven't got the papers to hand). Really enyoying the purchase and like the autocar review against the Ferrari and Aston this week.

A couple of photos (hopefully):

Photos were taken just off the Applcross road just after the turn off from the Inverness Ullapool road. Great roads up in this part of the world and fantastic scenery, great place to test out the performance of these cars!

I agree, we did these roads 2 years ago with the Scotland region and I did a wee tour round the area a few years ago - stayed at the Loch Maree Hotel and just toured around. Truly wonderfiul place to be and in that car even better!!

ENJOY!!!

nice pictures and a stunning looking car!

i'm curious - so, is your car a factory or dealer fit 430hp?

The Autocar article was very good adevertising for Porsche, though I don't quite believe the price, it seems a bit low for a TT - especially for one supplied by Paragon. I too thought about and rejected both Ferrari and AM before settling on the Porker. There is something so very reassuring about the standard of engineering in these cars that few other makes achieve.

all the best

I also thought the price was pretty low for that spec, number of owners, mileage, paragon, etc in the autocar article. I actually don't have the papers with me here for the car but I have checked the sticker under the bonnet and it does not say X50 on it so I guess the 430 bhp upgrade was a dealer fit. I'll check the early invoices when I return home.

I'm staying close to Inverness at the moment and we are very lucky with the (relatively empty) great driving roads we have up here.

William,

I really hope the reason for replacing the 993 with a cayenne was the arrival of additional passengers. ie Children [][][]

You need to right down the information on the sticker under the bonnet that lists the factory extras or if you have the original invoice it will be listed on that as well.
