993 turbo engine cooling fan question

Hoping someone can help me - I have a 96 993 turbo - recently it has had a major service and suspension work by an OPC.
Before this the engine cooling fan always came on regardless ot how long it was running. I had been told this was normal and healthly to stop heat cracking etc.

On return from its service this is no longer the case.
I ran it for 1 1/2 today oil temp normal etc - on stopping the cooling fans did not come on.

engine bay was pretty cool however no real heat.

question is - Are these fans related to a temperature sensor which means they do not always come on - or should they always at least come on for a little while i.e. is it now fixed or broken [8|]

be great to get any thoughts answers !





 
If you have run your turbo for 1.5 hours non-stop, the engine compartment should generate some heat, enough for the auto cooling fan to cut in once you have switched off. The fan, most importantly, cools the turbos to stop carbonising etc.
The only time my fan does not kick in is when I have done a bit of local commuting and have hardly brought the engine temp up to normal.

Many thanks - this helps - due to run it at brand hatch tmrw so if they dont work then will assume they need fixing -most likelya fuse or loose connection when the work was done - am i right in assuming however that they are related to a temperature sensor somewhere - excuse my tech ignorance by the way :)
