993 turbo prices

I was surprised to see that there's a 993 turbo for sale at Strasse; 1995, 46K miles, supposedly standard car, but with rsr spoilers, arena red, at #38995 (that's pounds, my keyboard's not cooperating). I don't remember seeing one at that sort of price before, I remember letching at one they had at Shirley's for ages at about 55k. Are prices dropping, I assumed they'd be fairly settled? Having said that there's a couple at Specialist Cars of Malton at around 60K. Is this price difference just the difference between a 1995 and a 98?

Sounds like a lot of car for the money, but maybe not with the cheapest 996 tts heading for the mid 40s, should be lower depreciation though (maybe against higher running costs).

Because it is Arena red?

I reckon that you are about right. Most 45K mileage types would be at about £43K right now. You get a few silly dealers with them at £50K.

£38k cars tend to be those with 70K plus miles. So maybe this one looks like its been used.

Hello Mike,

You have to ask why they have a 1996 C2S 993 for £36k and a Turbo for £39K, it doesnt really add up. Firstly you would have to see if the front and rear spoilers were factory fix, otherwise "most" I saw with spoilers changed after the factory production had seen some action. Its tends to be, lets fix the car, wait a genuine spoiler is expensive, lets make it upgraded to look better and its cheaper to do.
But if thats a straight car its very good value, I would have gone to see it if it was a few weeks ago.

Obviously a large number of people also change the spoilers just for looks. Just not the gits that had me drive out a long way to see there car.

Supposed to be genuine rsr spoilers, and standard car, ie not chipped, or sports suspension etc "very clean". I wondered whether the spoilers knock off value, they're a bit lairy, and maybe give the impression it may have been used hard.

Trouble is would take a military style operation to go and look at it at present, what with 2 small babies and half way to the other end of the country.

I saw an arena red car at Strasse, probably the same car 9 months ago when I went to look at a blue one they had for sale at the same time. Neither of the cars were what I wanted, but the blue one was the nicer car.

I think I saw the Arena one last year at the R7 concours, had a huge stone chip on the offside arch (assuming it's the same car). The gap between C4S and TT seems to be closing for some reason, I mean are the running/servicing costs so much greater on a TT?

Theres an arena red 96N turbo for sale near me for £58,000. Its been there a while and was up for £59,999. I'm after a 993 TT myself but cant find anyhing decent in the 40-45K bracket.

Anyone know why so many of the 95-96 cars are Arena?[&:] Was it an exclusive TT colour to begin with or something?

I love it in arena red, mine is arctic silver, but it was the colour that made me fall in love with the 993 turbo in the first place, id still have one in arena red tomorow. To me its a plus.

Yeah im happy with my spec cheers, it totaly swayed me from an arena red exhample, which was my orignal choice.

When I was researching available turbos five years ago, Arena red seemed to be somewhat unpopular. There was more availability of cars in this finish, and I met lots of negative comment. Believe this still holds good today .
Think probably the most popular colour is Arctic Silver, since it has a bronze tint which tones down the bling somewhat.

993turbo X50 Arctic Silver with US Blue leather - cool at any time

Arena seems to be one of those in the middle colours that some people like and some really do not. There are far worse colours in the 993 range but also far better (by that I mean more popular).

I saw an early 996 once in Arena and it was really dull. No curves to show the colour off.

Dongawoy - is it your car in March's GT Purely Porsche then? Can't be too many Artic Silver with Flamenco Red leather.

Im afraid so, I couldent be a journalist, I hate reading my own letters in magazines.[:'(] Got a free magazine though.

And your free issue was a good one for the 993 in general.

The article on the 993 Turbo was titled Living Legend, had the tag line "Could this be one of the greatest cars ever built?" and didn't hold back on its fullsome praise. And elsewhere in the mag we have Chris Harris passionately arguing the case for the 993 Carrera being the best sports car ever built!

Didn't know we in the 993 family are so privileged to own such a fab car. Well, OK, actually I do everytime I drive mine [:D]

If your interested you need to ask quite a few questions and have it inspected as that should be a £45k car, due to the lowish miles, even though its a 95 and Arena Red, in the UK its one of the least popular colours you either love it or hate it.

- Why so cheap, they've had a few months( not that long)
- I would suspect its been in an accident for that price
- again the RS kit you either love it or hate it
- strange lack of description on site ie all leather interior, carbon fibre seat backs

They do clean up well, if this was going to be a weekend car and not a daily(as dirt does not make it look nice) then the clour shouldnt be a problem. Have a look at Rennlist's 993 Turbo register for Arena Red there are some absolute crackers search on RUFUS and WALDO the colour looks great in something called sunlight

I am currently trying to sell my '95 993TT. Polar silver, 74K miles, FPDSH, techart exhaust - MINT condition.

Was offered £36K in part exchange agianst a £55K 996 turbo. 2 months later a £50K 996 TT was for sale - same dealer offered me £30K, apparently " things have changed". Needless to say I wont let my 993TT go for less than £36K - dealers are just too greedy these days - want to make at least £5K out of every deal.

Car still for sale if anyone interested - £36K.
