993 Turbo Spoiler What do you think ?

Has anyone retro fitted a 993 turbo spoiler on their C2s or 4S. In two minds about doing it sometimes I like the clean look of the widebody but the turbo spoiler does look good.

what do you think. There is a chap in Bradford doing a excellent replica including all fixings for £600.
 
thats the one his feedback on ebay is excellant and he has sold 4 already this month.. question is would it devalue a C2s having one retro fitted.? you can always put the old bootlid back on I suppose they are interchangeable.
 
I fitted a genuine turbo spoiler to our 993.. very easy to do...(30 mins)

Disconnect the spoiler electrics from the lid & tie the connector out of the way.
Undo the 4 bolts to remove the existing spoiler..
Bolt on the spoiler, getting it to corrctly align.[;)]
Ajust the rubber bump pads on the side of the spoiler to ensure it sits snug and doesn't rattle.
Under the glovebox disconnect the large silver control unit for the spoiler (stops warning light at 55mph)
Wrap the original in bubble wrap and store in the garage loft.

Depending on your new spoiler you may have to transfer over a few bits.. I didn't have to as the spoiler I found had everything in place and was even the right colour, just had to order the correct new badges (ie not Turbo)

You MUST balance this spoiler with a front spoiler/splitter as well otherwise you will have some very unpredictable high speed handling.
 
never thought about about that... the 993 turbo has a small rs style lip at the front I presume you are reffering to that ?

I'd have thought this was only true if one opted for a GT2 rear spoiler (or other big 'wing').

I've never noticed any difference between the C2S/C4S & Turbo front bumpers and the Turbo is the only one with a fixed spoiler as standard equipment.
 
when I bought new engIne cover support struts a few weeks ago, it was pointed out that there are two types - one for the standard lid and one for the bigger wings. You might want to bear this in mind
 
I know beauty is very much in the eye of the beholder but I can honestly say that the Turbo spoiler does absolutely nothing for me - even on the Turbo!

Putting bits of kits onto a car that make it look something it's not has always struck me as a bit tacky. Yes, I know it's nowhere up there with badging a BMW 320d to look like an M3 [8D] but, at least for me, the general principle holds good. If I saw it, I'd wonder why someone had adulterated the (rather fetching) looks of a wide-bodied non Turbo 993 with an unattractive spoiler. The fact that it's OEM kit really wouldn't make much difference to me.

But then I could just be odd and in a minority of one in thinking that way! [:D]

EDITED TO ADD: I forgot that there is more than one Turbo spoiler. I was referring to the "low" one.

When I was searching for a car and asking people to keep a look out for me a hard constraint was "no whale tail". Clearly some people seem to love them, but not to my taste.
 
Hey, I got one of those, Maurice! They don't half make the back end squat at high speed. You can really feel the rear get hard and planted.
Curious about the lack of a front splitter, though, especially when you read The Porsche Story and note the emphasis of balance with front/rear aerofoils.Obviously the front end does the job, cos I don't feel at all light at speed.
Clever boys, aren't they.
