Taken my 993 turbo to opc and they have advised me that the best oil for my car wouid be 0_40 remember reading somewhere that this wasn't the right oil for this car please help

OPC will only put 0W40 in cars irrspective of model! If your taking your car to n OPC make sure the mechanic is at least 35 or has worked on may 993 Turbo's.

For 15 year old car I would prefer something a little thicker, I always had 10w40 in mine, 5w40 would be good as well.

Thanks for replys and just to add I've taken the car back and changed the oil to 5/40 sounds a lot better but think the tappets have a gone noticed it when the 0/40 was in the car but has quieten now with the thicker oil the car has only 52 k on clock is this a problem with the 993 turbo any advise please on mabe what needs doing or what this intales thanks

They will get tappety if not used. Nothing to worry about as long as it goes quickly when warmed up

This is worth a look - if you have the time!

As I understand it at normal engine running temperatures 0W-40, 5W-40 and 10W-40 all have the same viscosity. The only difference is the viscosity when the engine is cold. Whether you want "thin" cold oil (0W) or thicker (10W) will depend on how you feel about getting the oil around the engine asap.[;)]
