993 Turbo?

Looking for some opinions on this. I'm thinking of getting a 993 turbo. I do about 3000 miles a year, mostly on the continent. I currently have a Boxster S, 2000 model (great car). I do like the look of the 993 TT but haven't driven one yet, hope to do so in a few weeks. Has anyone else here moved from a Boxster S to a 993 TT? Interested in your experiences.

I've owned mine since Jul-03 and love it. Its got truely amazing performance and grip as you will find out when you drive one. I can't offer you comparisons with the Boxster S as I've only driven one once but as far as the 993 Turbo goes, I have nothing but praise for the car. Here's a picture on mine in the Lake District...

Very nice car! Thanks for your opinion. If anyone here knows of any cars going or about to come up for sale I'll be interested.

I bought a 993 turbo in May last year, had a evo 7 before that. The porker is a superb car - no doubt at all. My only gripes are the dated interior, which you will notice if you drive a boxster, and the ventilation is crap. Grip is good but my evo gripped better in the wet surprisingly. The porker also cost half what the evo did to insure - very surprised by that.

Hi, can't compare the 993TT with a BoxterS but can compare it to a 996TT as the other half has an "S". On a sunny day on a back road with the roof down the Boxter is hard to beat. But the TT is a different beast, it's grunt makes the Boxter feel slow & it is simply the fastest point to point car on the planet, come rain , hail or shine it's simply ballistic ! You can cross continents in comfort, Bose stereo blaring & Sat Nav chatting or rip chunks out of your favourite B road, it is still a great drivers car. Negatives...it doesn't sound as good as the Boxter & it's a lot more expensive to buy & run !!!
If you are spending much time on the continent, why not a LHD 996TT instead of a RHD 993TT , only a thought, the 993 is a great car.

I've considered a LHD TT which has some advantages when on the continent. I've used my Boxster over there alot and didn't really find many issues with RHD. I was expecting the LHD cars to be noticeably better value but the Euro has strengthened over the last 18 months so the prices are now about the same.
