993 Workshop Manual

I have seen a few questions on the forum about workshop manuals, so thought I would mention the following.

Got a copy of Excellence, The magazine all about Porsche, from my local newsagent which is unusual in itself. Very good reading though.
Anyway noted an advert by Stoddard of Ohio who have many Porsche worshop manuals for sale including:
911 Carrera (993) 1995-98 8 vol worshop manual for sale at a discount price. Before you rush for your credit card though, even with discount it is still the second most expensive of a long list of Porsche manuals they have for sale, at USD 725.00

I remember someone floating the idea some time ago of getting workshop manuals scanned and available via PDF rather than having to visit Cornbury House.

Did this ever move forward, or were there copyright / time/cost/benefit issues?

Stoddard used to be a major supplier of Porsche parts in the late 1980-ties and 1990-ties as my granddad used to order loads of stuff with the low dollar rate and using his contact in the military to save on customs and excise. (Ah these Belgians)

They went subsequently out of business in 1997 but somehow it was revived around 2003.
