993 would not start

My 993 has been in the garage for 3 weeks and yesterday I decided to take the car out for a run. The car started fine on first turn of the key and I then reversed out of the garage and parked up on the drive turning the engine off. An hour later I got back into the car which I was unable to start as the immobiliser did not beep and the electrics were completely dead. No lights, windows would not open, no radio etc... I then checked the battery with a multimeter and it was reading 13.6 v, checked the battery terminals which seemed fine. I then opened up the fuse box to make sure all connections were ok and still the electrics were completely dead. I then opened up the engine lid and again checked the electrical connections, closed the engine lid and out of the blue the immobilser then worked and I was able to start up the car in the usual way. I would appreciate any comments as to what the fault could have been as I am not able to understand what may have caused the electrics to fail.

Thanks Gordon, I think the fault was due to the engine lid as I opened and re-closed this which has now fixed the problem. Been out for a good drive today in my 993 and no issues at all.
Cheers Paul
