993RS Clubsport biplane spoiler

I've got a 993RS with the "normal" spoiler and I'm looking to change it for the RS Clubsport biplane spoiler. Does anyone know where I can get an original one from? I don't mind second hand, but it needs to be in good condition. Porsche want to charge me an unprintable amount for one.

I'll buy a new 3 piece front splitter from Jasmine as they have them for about £800, but they don't have a new rear clubsport spoiler. They know of a second hand one, but would have to buy it from an individual and then add VAT and it all gets quite expensive for what is a second hand spoiler.

Please either reply here or drop me a private email.

Many thanks.

True. Looking at the technical specs:

Basic RS wings: Cd 0.33, front lift 178N, rear downforce 0
Clubsport wings: Cd 0.34 - 0.36, front lift 0 to +178N, rear -119N to -713N depending on the angle of the wing.

So if I run the rear wing at zero degrees, I'd get 0.34Cd, zero lift at the front and 119N of downforce. Sounds like a reasonable tradeoff to me!

I passed on a second-hand one in e-bay a while ago because I didn't know whether it was the real McCoy. Looking back on it I made a mistake because I think it was original (just under 1000 Euros). A company in USA, MA Shaw, makes a copy and the guys on Rennlist say that the the small wing is of good quality so perhaps their biplane wing will be also (they make it in carbon as well). I personally have no experience with them. Autofarm has a blue RS and they have taken the big wing and the front spoiler off the car and selling them separately from the car it came on (may be the person who buys the car gets first call on it, I don't know) why don't you give them a ring.
How much did Porsche want for the wing, if I may ask?
Harry

Try Tom Schmitz H&S Autos .............www.germansportscars.de he has loads of bits .....mostly off my cars !!!

Have a look on here under "spoilers and aerokits":

The rear wing is a grand, the Supercup one. If you add a wing on the back, you should always put the matching one on the front, the Clubsport stle one here is £395.....but over a grand if you buy the original Porsche part.

Get this:
Lower rear:£5869
Upper rear: £956
Grill:£60
So when you add the £1423 they want for the front
= £7292 exc VAT
= £8568 incl VAT.

Oh dear.

Vic - I tried calling Tom on Friday and missed him, I will try again today.

Jonny - the one at the web site you suggest looks like an ok copy, there are better ones around. Eg it doesn't have the "RS 3.8" bit on the side. At least it needs the grill from the normal wing (just like the real RS Clubsport wing) which the MA Shaw one doesn't (it is a one piece GRP design).

I know who owns the autofarm car,a freind of mine.If you want his number call me,i am sure he will sell it direct.
Dont touch design 911 crap,i will say no more on it!
Ma shaw and gt in the states both make good replica carbon wings and a lot cheaper than porsche.
I would say that the rear large wing will probably only feel the benefit at some where like spa, with the very fast corners.
I have played with both against the clock, the standard rear wing is faster on time.

I've been told you could have done with the bi plane at MIRA[:D]

Paul the rear spoiler did not make any difference, Colin has still to beat my trap time of 128mph,and he will need to be brave!!
When i lost the car, my data logger was indicating to be 130mph,but the rear anti roll bar drop link fell apart. Hence new ones fitted with in a week! It caused the car to snap around, and i past the speed trap at 104mph backwards!!
It was a close one. And you know Paul that 128 does not sound that fast unless you appreciate where it is, with a 90deg right about 150meters in front of the speed trap.
So guess what we will be doing at the next mira round.
