993RS struts

Does anybody know if the 993RS front stuts are a direct bolt on replacement for the 964RS or if anything else needs to be changed such as the top mounts?
TIA
Steve

Somebody will come around soon and correct me --- I believe that they will fit but there is a bolt hole that needs to be drilled out --- or something like that.

Nor am I quite sure what the difference is between the drive of the '64 v '93 strut .... though I was told that the '93 strut is more progressive.

What I can say is that my own '64 RS has become much more progressive with serious use.

Not sure about the bolt hole thing? but you will need new top mounts as well as the strut as the 993 part is a different design and is I think the reason for changing. Makes for a more compliant front end.

According to Mr Belton in 'the book' mounting holes need opening out. It does indeed make the front more compliant - specifically the rebound rate is different, more than anything else it keeps the wheels on the road better on bumpy surfaces (ie English roads) in particular stopping the ABS interveaning quite so often.
Reasoning behind it it that both 964 and 993 RS's use the same front springs - but 993 is a more compliant ride.

Thanks for the replies. Just a thought, guessing how much 993RS monoballs cost, by the time I bought these and 993RS struts, I could be halfway to the cost of a KW variant 3 set up which would fit with my existing top mounts..... Anyone have experience of life expectancy of monoballs ? Should I be planning to replace anyway after 55,000km ?
