993RS values in the UK

Hi Bryn, I recently had mine for sale at £65,000, 95 993 RS with 42,000 miles, there was some interest with a definite
buyer, I pulled out of the sale at the last minute, could not part with it, I would say that colour is a major factor in the
desirability, as well as the obvious accident free, matching numbers, history, etc.

Keith's red one went for about 40k....I'd be guessing 45k+ depending on car at mo
 
I do not know if a dealer has to pay import duty (10%) and VAT (17.5%) on top of the shipping and insurance for cars sold directly to Japan (ie dealer cars). That would put up the price significantly unless the car was initially registered in EU and then imported to Japan. For personal import you are immediately whacked with 27.5% on top of the purchase price so it may not be as cheap as you think even if GBP is strong at the moment. Then you have to factor in your profit which would make the cars very expensive indeed. I looked into this some time ago and it is not economical unless you can buy the cars cheap and the dealers who know the RS would price accordingly.

i THINK U LL FIND U GET STUFFED EVEN IF THE EU TAXES WERE PAID if the car has been out of Eu for more than 3 years and u may have to proove that no work has been carried out either ! ....................................not that i ve looked !!!!!
 
ex track day rent car ..........properly mainted but tired with work some damage over the years
 
A 20k miles Rhd accident free, immaculate UK supplied 993 RS with good service history has got to be worth £70k all day long.

The difference between the value of an imported rhd car and UK car is down to how good the car actually is and how believable the history is if you don't have a grasp on japanese.....If it is as good as you say with true provenance I would say the car is worth £55k+....as the spread gets narrower the £70k looks safer in a UK car.

Are you a memeber of the Porsche club???....just that it says non member in your avatar,,,,always strikes me as odd that traders come on here using Porsche enthusiasts as unpaid consultants to further their business.....certainly puts me off dealing with someone trying to sell an expensive car when they have no clue about what they are actually pushing.

Glad to hear you are a Porsche enthusiast and club member, from your initial post telling us about your business interest it was less than obvious.
At least you have something to go on now when the buyers turn up [:)]
 
I still dont think this is the place to get values as a trader,this is only for club use and not commercial use.
Also if you have so much Knowledge on imports i would have thought you were up to date with todays values.
You will find the sales frenzy has all but stopped at the moment,also crazy prices being requested for not so good cars.

I agree with Paul. As a trader myself, although not in this type of car, I am very wary of any of this type of discussion, and certainly wouldn't ask forum users for the value of anything that I was selling, after all I am suposedly the expert [;)]

I'm not certain but if the original sales included the EU tax then provided it can be proven I have a feeling you may avoid the VAT unless during export VAT was recouped. I may be wrong though and best bet would be to speak to someone @DVLA.

Harry tku , i am not absolutely certain, so i thought raising a warning was wise .....very good friend got spanked on the basis i laid out bringing car in from Tokyo at the end of last year ..........however i dont know if VAT had been reclaimed when the car left EU .............i ve steered away from a couple of these opportunities as i cant face the hastle ,let alone 12 hrs each way , if i want to see it first and have seen the vast diferential in quality of cars arriving .......................just like anywhere else in the world the descripitions dont always come across right !

I've actually been quietly stunned at the honesty in the description of the auction cars I move around from Japan -does this not also apply to dealers and vendors in Japan too??
 
Tell u privately one day Doctore , suffice it to say if it were nt for the honesty of the Eu importer the misleading story on one very expensive car would have lead to teers!
 
I think that is the risk you take when you buy from abroad not seeing the car in person or have it inspected by someone who knows about Porsche or whatever you are going to buy. My brother asked about a GT2 Clubsport sold by a dealer and the dealer was honest in saying that the car was involved in an accident and was also repainted in a different colour. It all depends on the honesty of the dealers. If it is too good to be true.....

What a pleasant change to be told the true story, as u suggest if its too good to be true .....................the car i was referring to, with Mel, cud still be ok ,very unusual for the Japanese owner to be devious but its still a bit of a muddle so best i leave it at that..........but look likes someone may have omitted some points in its past!!!
