A private trackday at Goodwood attracted 3 993RSs last Friday

We were very lucky, the proper rain held off till 3 pm allowing the early damp track to dry out after lunch. Wind was more of a problem (ask Uncle Vic) with gusts over 50mph causing a few froblems for the early cars, even a slight twitch from the bewinged cars at 100 mph around Fordwater. It was good to see 3 standard 2.4S 911s being driven as Butzi intended.

Gale force winds nothing to do with chicken and leak pie!! Front wheels felt like they were flapping in the wind at Fordwater and the kink in The Lavant straight.......................compared to what speeds feel comfortable in the 10 year old cars quite stirring !!! Brakes were good ,no fade , running 3.2 steel calipers, but 120mph on Lavant = stopping before SHELL shed like 160 plus in modern kit!!!

Goodwood is track-essence, but do wish they hadn't resurfaced it. All the old humps and bumps were part of the fun.

The new surfce has certainly changed the character, but I perefer it. Madgwick is now smooth so the whole corner can be done in what feels to me like a 4 wheel drift, and the brakng into Woodcote is a lot more predictable.

[8|] I thought Vic might pop up and name and shame..... but he must be in the wine bar. Anyway his first name is Nick as well.

I was going to respond to Nicks outrageous suggestion of Vic being in a wine bar...I then remembered that Monday...does actually have a Y in it [;)]

Nick, Vic confirmed...we do know the car.....there aren't too many CS to keep tabs on .....this one had those very desirable ali doors I believe [:)]

Nick, you may be right, but it has made the UK trackguide section redundant. My theory is that the old boys had a word with His Nibs and told him that it was all getting a bit too sweaty.
Pity.
