993's alternator fan blade

Guest

New member
Hello,
I am a newbie here.
I owned a year1995, C2 993.
I noticed there are some cracks on the fan blade (infront of the alternator's housing).
Is it dangerous driving with some cracks on the fan blade?
Your advise is greatly appreciated.
Thanks n regards.

Hi Maurice,
Ooops., infact the cracks are actually on some of the fins of the fan blade itself.
I went to a few Porsche workshop( in Kuala Lumpur, i am from Malaysia) and they said it is a common problem.
I was wondering if it is alright to leave it like that or have it change right away.
Regards,
Dr Audio

I had a blade come out on a Clubsport last year , relatively hard life but v low mileage ..........when it flew off it cut the fanbelt bounced off the lower pulley bending it badly and finally flew up to sever 2 sensors on the end of the injection !
When we looked at it closely the 'root' or the stump at the base was half black where it must have been rotting for a while .................have had several 993 this never happened to me before , suggest u dont wait too long , i have no idea what caused the original cerack or what finally made it fly off. Longtimwe since i lived in ur part of the world but a good one from a breakers might be possible ?
