993tt clutch slave. How much!!

It looks like I'll be needing a new clutch slave in the next few months (some evidence of the fluid reservoir pressurising and overspilling). So I checked the price of a new one from PC Reading: £500 + VAT!!!!!!! The non turbo version is less than a quarter of that.

So, does anyone know if these same slave cylinders (for a turbo) can be obtained as oem items (not in a Porsche box) to get them at a more reasonable price? Or has anyone got a new one for sale at a fair price?

Unfortunately MPL only make a slave cylinder for non-turbo cars. The turbo version is markedly different.

Would it be possible to rebuild it?

Out of interest, was anything specific suggested with regard to how a failing slave cylinder could pressurise the reservoir? I can't imagine how it would do it.

The 993 turbo has a power assisted clutch , and as well as a pressure accumulator(gas charged sphere) reservoir fitted on to the slave cylinder assy also takes its assisted energy feed from the power steering pump fitted on the engine.in addition to this the clutch system also has its own master cylinder near the pedal which uses the same pentosin fluid as the p.a.s system does and when the seals fail inside of the slave cylinder unit, it feeds pressurised pas fluid up into the hydraulic reservoir of the clutch master cylinder at the front of the car making a mess and eventually running the pas reservoir dry!.it's a complicated system for a clutch and was?.still is a problem for 996 turbos which use a similar system if not even an identical part. The 996 part has been superdseeded a few times ,so there's no problems their obviously!!!!!!!! Also the subject of a technical bulletin.

That's a very useful explanation - I didn't realise they used an assisted system. Thanks for taking the time to respond.
