ok the time has come i need some new rear tyres. the wheels are original gt3 18" rims. the tyres on their at the moment are conti's 265/35/18 can i put any other sizes or brand on? its a 2001 996. also where is the cheepest place to get them.thanks for any help. regards nick

if they are 10" width (check number by valve stem), then you can fit 285/30-18s as well.
Check the Technical Articles section for Approved Tyres, and the FAQ section for suppliers.

Seconded! My C4 had these on the rear when I bought it & the main thing I found was the incredible noise levels they generated. I fitted a set of Pilot Sport N1 all round (£660 fitted) and the difference is astonishing.

give Monty's tyres a ring over in iver heath! you would be AMAZED at the prices.
basically hardly used tyres in all brands for the 911.
I got a set of rear 285/30/18s, with 7mm tread for £140 fitted for both tyres. they were conti sports N2s, lasted for ages, done a few track days and a ring trip and still going strong on the car with the new owner!!
I have used them for years and a great secret! sssshhhhhhh.
