996.2 soft top not closing

Hi All
I have a slight problem where the roof on my 996.2 will not close and my garage is full with non garage items. I have had the car for 18 months and the hood has never been an issue but today the car is enjoying the weather so much its decided to stay open for longer ( it's own decision). when I press the rocker switch to close the hood I can hear a clicking noise behind the rear left passenger seat which does not sound mechanical. I have tried to shut the hood manually and get so far but fail when I get to the stage of pulling the soft top up. So if anyone has come across this before or has some recommendations then I would be grateful for your input as I am in the hands of the weather gods tonight. Thank you for your time and hopeful responses.

I haven't much experiance of the cabriolet top, but does the hydraulic pump run at all? If not, start by checking fuse D3 (30A).
