996 4S VALUES

Just curious as not so familiar to the 996 911 but am thinking next year about selling my 993 turbo to replace it with a lowish mileage 996 4s coupe as I feel like a change for various reasons having owned a 2.7 boxter and a 3.4 cayman s previously too. Hence my main concern is..... what is the general consenus of how much further the values of the 996 cars will drop as the 911 4s especially appears to be such a great value car at present. I see values of 993 turbos slowing increasing into the future so I need to take this into account if I take the plunge. Pleased to hear.

Although the C4S is a great car and a real looker I think the price compression between it and the 996 turbo is totally overdone.
Buy a turbo if you can, it's altogether in a different performance league.

Personally don't understand why C4S is low £20's around the same price as the Turbo, one has a potential major engine issues and the other doesn't!! They are still depreciating and due to the above the C4S will have to be worse, not sure how much further the 996TT can go but allow 10% pa. You should also consider the 997c4s as they can be found under £30k.

With regards,to your 993tt, if you are thinking of selling pay close attention to pistonheads, as you will see very few are actually selling. So I would say that maybe the prices have peaked so I wouldn't assume any further appreciation unless yours has very low mileage.

Any way you should find a vgc 996tt for half the value of your 993tt, I can't see how you will like a C4S as 996's just don't have the personality and style of the 993.[8|]

Interesting comments from Gordon. Now, I'm not saying that's he's right or he's wrong because these matters are subjective.

What I would say, however, is that I test drove a 993 C4 before I bought the 996 and knew that I should have bought it because values were increasing. In fact, the dealer was tempted to do a deal with me where he would buy the car back off me, at the price I paid, after 12 months of ownership. Such was the strength of the values.

My impression of the 993 was of an antiquated design where you sat too close to the windscreen and had to push down on the brake and clutch pedals. The air con was old school and the fuel consumption fearsome.

I was looking for a daily driver and I knew as soon as I'd driven half a mile that this was not the car for me, I needed something more modern. That was why I bought a 996 and, while I can't say its my favourite car, its probably the best car I've owned and a competent daily driver capable of covering large distances in short spaces of time and you step out of it like you've just popped down to the shops.

I suppose character and personality have their trade offs.

Regards
