Porsche Alarm:- Carrera 2 1998 996
Can anyone help, I have had my 911 Carrera since July ( 1st Porsche and over the moon ), however, over the last 2 weeks the car alarm keeps going off. Let me summarise. If I drive the car for 10 minutes and then park up, approx 10 - 15 mins later the alarm ( not horn ) goes off for about 5 minutes, then stops. Nothing will stop the alarm whilst its whirling away...Approx 20 minutes later the same thing happens, then stops. The alarm then seems to stabilise itself until the next time I jump into the car. I drive along, park up and hey presto the alarm goes off.
The battery is reading 14V, the glove box lid is firmly closed, as are all the doors, bonnet and boot etc, etc. I've even taken it to an independent Porsche specialist who's plugged the Porsche software in and diagnosed the alarm system but no error codes or faults are visual within the alarm history.....
Please help, the neighbours are not happy....

It might be a problem with the tilt sensor or alarm siren which are located on the right hand side of the battery (as you look at it) under the black plastic cover. The tilt sensor is susceptible to filling with water over a long period of time. Because they are "add-ons" to the alarm system for the UK and Belgium, a fault in one of these devices will not show up a fault in the alarm control module. The best way to check if they are the cause is to remove the two plugs connecting the sensor and siren, but make sure that the ignition is switched on when you do this, otherwise the siren will go off. Try it for a couple of days with them disconnected, and if that cures the problem then you know what's wrong. The alarm horn (to the left of the battery) will still sound if the problem persists.
