996 C2 Horn Failure

Hi
Has anyone else experienced horn problems, the other night at 23:00 my horn on my 996 went off constantly, I originally thought it was my alarm but it wasn't, even when I unlocked and started the car the horn was still going, I only managed to stop it (by chance) when I hit to centre of the steering wheel, i.e. activated the horn. Now the horn does not work at all, has anyone experienced similar problems, if so what was the cause.

The rubber insulation grommets on the airbag/horn frame fail occasionaly, causing the horn to go off randomly, often when braking. Sounds like that might be your problem.

Thanks for the reply, is this a simply job to check and I assume that to remove the steering wheel horn cover its best to disconnect the battery to protect the airbag.
Or is this difficult and you would recomend taking it to my Porche Centre.
