996 C2 loos of power 3000 revs and above

New to the forum, need some advice, my 2000 model C2 has developed a loss of power above 3000 revs, started to happen in 2nd gear, now in all gears.
Any thoughts, ideas or suggestions ?

Regards
Richard Smith
ps the car has had major service carried out 1500 miles ago, done 86000 miles

Could also be that the Variocam solonoid has stopped working - that would make the engine seem a little flat at over 3000rpm

Would that not give you an engine check light? Mine did when I had a problem with it, but that usually came on at idle revs.

I don't think it would Paul, not on a RoW car using DME7.2 - USA it would. It will register a fault code in the DME, but not trigger the CEL.

I'd try cleaning the MAF first, and if that doesn't cure it get a diagnostic check done. That's the only way to troubleshoot these type of faults.
