996 c2 newbie

Thought it was only right to introduce myself in here, having recently brougt a 996 C2 (for myself) and a Boxster S (for the wife)

Didnt get a pre purchase inspection on either of them. To be honest I didnt know what a pre purchase inspection was until after I bought into the marque!

So far I am proud as punch of the two of them although sad to see my e34 BMW M5 go off to its new owner after about 9 years of ownership!

Initially I was slightly dissapointed with the 996 C2 which seemed to lack power, although a quick visit to the excellent chaps at JMG (www.jmgarage.co.uk) in Bournemouth for a service (on the advice of chaps in my local PCGB area), highlighted a bad MAF sensor.. Now that the MAF sensor is sorted, its got blooming impressive performance!

The Boxster is in with the same chaps later this week, so who knows what they will find.

I already have so many questions to ask about this car, so will probably be in here pestering you all on a regular basis, but most of all - HELLO!!

Welcome, very friendly bunch here, and as far as MAF ; I had to thank bad MAF for allowing me to buy CLK 320 for 3 grand less then 'screen price' dealer said its probably something minor with the engine, but quick visit to specialist (during test drive) and it was sorted. Oh and the car came with RAC warranty specifically covering 'Airflow meter'. So happy as larry

Hi there,

I'm a new owner too, well I will be on Saturday. Also a 996 C2.

I live near Bournemouth (just north of Ringwood) and I have heard good things about JMG as well so I will be popping down there to see them soon. Always good to get to know a good local independent garage.

Enjoy the car

I will be officially getting around to joining PCGB in the next few days and will be turning up to their local meetings (probably both the one over towards dorchester and the other one more over your side) so hopefully will hook up with you at one of those.

Its quite spooky really, everyone I talk to in Porsche circles seems to have nothing but great things to say about JMG. At the same time they do not seem to advertise. I guess they do not need to.

So far from my first visit they seem great, the wifes Boxster is due there in the morning I think, so I will see if they continue to live up to their reputation :)
