996 C2 Which Tyres?

Guest

New member
I have just purchased a 996 C2 which is in need of new tyres, Can anybody please recommend an alternative to the standard fit continentals or is it best to stick with these?

Many Thanks

got michelin pilot sports 2's on mine and had them on my m3, no probs with them!

try www.mytyres.co.uk

Pirelli P-Zero Rosso are standard fitment. Excellent grip wet and dry, reasonable wear, noisy! Contis wear better, are quieter but dont grip quite as well. Very little in it for cost. Michelins I haven't used, unfortunately, so can't offer any insights. Using Pirelli at the moment (appreciate the grip and can't hear the tyre roar over the PSEs now)!!!

PS - What age is your car? If it is a pre-MY '02 on 265/35 x 18 rears, it may help to fit the 285/30s as per the facelift model.

Autocar ran a long-term 996 C2 and they concluded that the Pirelli Rossos were much better than the Michelins in terms of ride refinement and handling.

So far I have 12,000 miles on my Goodyear F1 Eagle GS-D3s and there's plenty of meat left on them yet!
They are also the quiestest tyres I have ever had and since I have a cab, that matters a lot.
They are their best in the wet. Stuck to ground like glue.
But they are inredibly expensive.

after only 8000 miles on my rears with p zero rossos, i will be going back to pilot sports that lasted 15000 (admittedly on my previous boxster) no real difference between the tyres in everyday road driving either

Thanks to you all for the replies.

Are these tyres just a standard tyre or do i need to look for a porsche specific fitment?
