I currently have just a single cd head unit and the cabbling for the auto changer that is missing,

I have just purchased a dvd sat nav etc single din head unit and noticed that the back had din input connectors, where can i get a conversion kit if possible to avoid stripping wires, also heard alot about the alarm cable, whats the issue with that if it is capped off, it also has a iso point, and i am seriouly confused

can some one help as have spent a lot on the single din head unit and can not find any possible kit around, please help

and many thanks

Further to last - Dynamic provided necessary cabling adaptors for my DVD CD satnav radio ipod conversion and the required fascia infills (was a double din) - plus telephone advice.

I made sure that my alarm connector was attached to a satisfactory earthing point on the double din cage and had no problem.

Welcome Tariq!

Do you have the M490 option amplifier, or are the speakers plugged directly into the head unIt? In other words, do you have a 4-speaker system (dash and rear side panels) or a 6-speaker system with door speakers? And what year is the car?

But if you do that Dave, you will get a beep from the alarm horn when you lock the car. The wire should be insulated from earth. On the original radio cage it connects the wire to earth when you remove the radio from the cage.

sorry for the delayed responce

and thank you all for your replies,

i beleive i have 2 dash speakers and 2 rear seat side panel speakers all same size and the unit is just a becker with cd option and radio

i have found a cheap satnav/dvd/bluetooth,etc and i recall the plugs being brown and black but the unit i want has got din connection leads thats why i need ,

hope this additional info helps

Thanks all for your comments and suggestions, keep the coming please and thank you in advance

Sorry just clumsy

I Have a Yellow Porsche 2002 996 c2 cab date of registration 1/1/2002 and i belive it may also be called the 911 carrera 2

hope this helps and thanks again Richard and all

I assume your new head unit has bare cables for the speaker and power connections. If so, this is what you need: http://www.dndservices.co.uk/pc2-36-0.html . You should be able to get one from Halfords, as they stock Autoleads adapters.

The black plug on the car's loom is the power connector, and the brown one is the speaker connector.

These are the connections from the black power cable.

Thanks richard

That helps but as you arwe ny new guru can i ask if there is such a lead adapter with the din connectors already converted as the stereo i am getting has all din connections similar to a home dvd player, red and white for speakers, an additional audio out and then video out etc all in din connector style, i wil,l try and post the picture of the back of the stereo, hope this will expalin my dilema as i seem to be going out of my mind in understanding this simple converstion

Thanks again Richard for all your assistance and regards

Yes you are right Richard, I remember now - the double din cage provided had an insulated connector which earthed when the radio was withdrawn from it.

I can't quite work it out, but if the head unit only has audio line outputs like you get on a domestic DVD player, then you won't be able to connect them directly to the speakers. You would have to fit an amplifier.

Thanks again richard for taking time out,

the photo i submitted is of the ISO which seems to be 4 pair preakers on one insert and onter section of the iso there are 4 wires red black yello and blue, then on the iso but seems to be seperate wires pink (emergency brake safety wire) thin brown (reverse wire,What ever that is) the yellow and black have a fuse box connected to it and the blue wire has a inline fuse,

then there are the dins,
yellow din female connector on green wire i think the one that need the whole filled (Backlight video IN)
green din sub woofer out
yellow again video out
Black TV ant TV Ariel input i now that is self explanatory surprising
gps connector again straight forward for Ariel connection
2 brown wired red and white leads din again AUX_in R And L
1 yellow head purple colour wire Video in
2 black wires with red and white heads rear l and rear r
ipod again self explanatory
and then in grey wire with red and white front l and front r

am i being stupid are are the din connectors for additions to the system as in what elce it can do as in out put to other moniter or the addition of a DVD unit and rear camera, i d=say this as this is all that is mentioned as add on to the system

sorry for being a pain,

and thanks as always

Oh, now I see what you mean. All the coloured connectors are for accessories (external screens, amplifier, reversing camera, etc). The speakers should just plug straight in to the speaker side of the ISO connector, and you will have to match up the power connections to the black plug on the car, as shown in my diagram, to the power side of the ISO connector.

thanks for that sounded long winded yet very simple, i think i was putting to much thought in it, Thanks a million, for getting me to there , i thought i was right but was very very confused, will take caution with oter part of iso, as speakers will be direct connection

Thanks gor the diagram again, is that the strandatrd layout with all the pins inserted from the cars loome, as the second part has 4 wires, as i said yellow and black thick and sharing a fuse box, then thin red and blue

Thanks again and again

The 4 wires that are connected will be the standard connections - switched 12v, permanent 12v, earth, and one other that I can't remember! Although they are "standard" ISO connectors, some are manufacturer-specific.

I have a Pioneer AVIC system in mine, and have loads of unused connectors on the back, like the ones shown in your photo.
