Hi all, im a new member to this forum, Just about to buy a porsche. I am just wondering whether some of you could tell me the diffrence between a " millenuim" model rather thent he normal C4. thanks in advance.

Hi Dave

I have just sold my Millennium having owned it from new. It was no. 492 of 911 made. I beleive that originally only 34 examples were made for the UK but I expect that more were subsequently ordered.

The Millennium has Chroma Violet paintwork which makes it look metallic black, bottle green or purple, depending on the light. Mostly it looks black. It is lowered on sports suspension and has 18 inch Turbo Technology wheels. These wheels look fantastic as they are highly polished chrome. However they are prone to stone chips and no one is willing to re-chrome them!! Replacement wheels are available but cost around £500 each.

The exhaust is chromed and it has Litronic lights. The interior is in natural leather. Everything is covered in leather and the quality is better than that found in other models. It also has aluminium handbrake and other fittings along with dark maple mouldings. The car comes fitted with just about every possible extra as standard and is basically superb.

Unfortunately it was a model that Porsche released with little prior notice in limited numbers. Because it is not a lightweight race model it went almost unnoticed and therefore is currently worth not much more than a normal C4. I believe that it is undervalued and a good long term bet as a collectors car. I sold mine in order to get a GT3RS, but it was a painful decision.

Good luck with your purchase!

Ian.

Actually Dave I have two Millennium wheels, one with a Continental tyre with at least 6 months wear on it. One wheel I curbed!! It has damage around the perimeter running for about 12 inches. The other has stone chip damage which has lifted the chrome near the hub. Both wheels are not that bad and both can be reconditioned if you can find somebody willing to do it.

If new the wheels alone would be worth over £1,000. Now I have sold the Millennium they are of no use to me. Are you interested in them?
