Has anyone fitted the stone guards to the rear wheel arches , if so I'd appreciate your thoughts on this , I can't make my mind up if they look ok or not , I know it's mainly about body protection but I'm not sure if they look out of place on this model ??

I've been thinking about fitting these also recently. Naturally its subjective but I like the look of them and particularly more than stone chips on my black car - where they stick out a lot. Its worth noting these were a factory option and many cars had them so don't think they'll look out of place on a 996. I'm personally thinking of fitting black ones though as the clear ones notoriously discolour.

Reading about fitting it is suggested that you should use a lot of lubricant / water to get them into place before settin by squeezing water out. Once they're on it can be really hard to remove without causing damage.

I hope this helps.
John.

Hi john

I didn't that they were an option , that makes it all the worth while in fitting them ,
I'm also thinking of fitting the black ones ,they will fit in with the other black fitments on the car , front grills ,splitter etc .

Wheres the the best place to purchase them , Porsche main delear ?

Mark .

Hi Mark, I'm not sure if porsche sell the black ones - think its just the clear ones but definitely worth asking as I would prefer to buy genuine ones personally. I saw the black ones on eBay myself. There's loads of specialist companies out there though that supply and can even fit stone chips guards. Let me know how you get on as I'm very I interested in fitting these also.

If anyone else can recommend opc part numbers on here that would really help.
Cheers
John

If anyone is interested, I have these which I bought but did not fit on my White GTS Cab - it seemed a bit too much contrast. I got them from USA supplier as none available via Porsche. In this picture they were held on with sellotape.

Mark, This is the eBay lot number for the example of the clear ones I found on ebay, which I understand they sell in black also.132148452460. Anybody tried these?

Hi Mark Ive fitted the ebay ones in black and have proved really good ,and I think they are the only ones for the 996 4S .I avoided the clear ones with the risk of discolouring .Theres nothing opc wise ,and for whatever reason Porsche never made any .I did have a look at the 997 ones and the radius on the arch is quite different .

As for the look I wasn't sure at first but grown on me .Shape is perhaps little more rounded than is ideal but they do the job really well
