hj guys can anyone help I have a 996 c4 cab , and for some reason it will not start ,it allways starts ,its regularly serviced , an has a good battery , but it turns over but won't fire up , I can hear petrol pump working , an it's full of fuel , can this be an immobiliser problem , any help would be grateful . Thanks
frank .

The immobiliser inhibits cranking, fuel, and ignition, so it won't be that. If the fuel pump is running, it is either flooded, or there is no spark. Try leaving it for an hour, and give it a good crank with the throttle wide open. If that doesn't work, then it could be the crankshaft position sensor, but these usually break down when the engine is hot.

If you know someone with a Porsche tester, or even a hand held OBD2 scanner, see if there are any fault codes logged.

Oh really thanks Richard I'll try that or it's back to the dealership lol , the car was just sitting in the garage , I started it a few days ago ,an it was fine , didn't drive it just let it run for a few miniutes, then today with the nice weather ,I thought I'm taken her out lol , no start for me , but appreciate the quick reply ,many thanks ,

The only time my 1998 C2 has failed to start was when I just ran it for a few minutes getting it out the garage and then an hour later it wouldn't start.
I thought I had turned it over more than enough but obviously not. I called out a breakdown service and the chap reckoned it was just flooded and kept it turning over for ages. I would have given up long before he did but eventually it did splutter into life. Your problem sounds similar so just hold that key turning it over.

Oh really steve oh thanks , bloody thing was going to enjoy some sunshine for the first time , but it sounds very similar to your problem , I will try as you said , so thanks for quick reply .
frank.

cheers
