996 Clutch replacement

Guest

New member
Hi, I'm a relatively new member to the forum and have just joined the PCGB. My question is this - I have a C4 996, 9,500 miles and been told by the OPC that the clutch plate needs replacing. The car is under warranty until june next year.

They are offering to replace the plate but not the entire clutch as they claim 996 clutches are on backorder. Any risks involved? Could this just cover me until my warranty expires and I would then have to replace the entire clutch at my own expense?

Any assistance gratefully received.

Not being an expert I would suggest you advise them you are not happy and should the clutch fail you have in writing their assurance that the works would be carried out under warranty.

The clutch assembly is a fairly common item so why don't you innocently ring another OPC's spares dept and ask if they have the bits in stock.

Then you can advise your OPC where they could obtain them - or you could get them to call EuroCarParts....[:D][:D]

Tim, many thanks for your reply. They did replace the clutch plate last weekend, however it hasn't made any difference to the creaking sound! They have agreed to replace the entire clutch but are still saying that they are on back order. Will try your suggestion of ringing round.
