996 Exhaust tips

They will hang a bit low on an early car. The rear PU is deeper on the facelift cars, and the downpipe of the exhaust tip is longer to compensate.

There was a double-pipe look option* for the 996, though. Can the bits still be obtained?

(Hope so ... mine has it!)

...but can the end piece be decoupled and attached to early 996 downpipe. The ones I have seen for later are bolt on. Here is an example:

Thanks Richard.

Found two useful videos on Fabspeed - worth a view. Nice sound of the bypass pipes too.

Are Fab Speed exhausts available in the UK? Does anyone know who distributes them here? How much am I likely to pay for one of their sport exhausts?

I was temped by these from FleaBay.
Non Turbo 996 Dual Tips

They appear to be shipped from Taiwan!

I have looked at these Far Eastern ones too myself recently on Ebay.

Assuming they have a good fitting, I cannot see that they would affect performance at all, in a negative way, unless anyone disagree's?

I suppose the Chrome could peel etc. Tempted to try them I must admit.

How can I tell if my strandard C2 996 tips are rusted on etc?

Also it mentions welding on the Ebay page, anyone know how serious this is.

Tried to remove Turbo style tailpipes from my 2004 C4 last week. Fixing nuts very tight so applied blowlamp heat and wd40 and tried easing them backwards and forwards. Guess whats next- youve got it- captive bolt sheared off luckily leaving just enough thread to refix pipe without the original washer. Wish I hadnt bothered!!!
So be carefull!
