996 front bumper

I have just got my car back from an official Porsche body repairer having had a new front bumper repair, repaint etc. The standard of the work is, as you would expect excellent however I have noticed an imperfection in the reflection in the now highly polished bumper just below the offside headlight, about 1.5" out from the inner headlight edge.

The imperfection is a vertical line running away from the light towards the ground. I have asked them to look at it again and they have agreed they will.

It is only slight but it is noticeable with the eye if you move over it, I have tried to photograph it but it's not really apparent in the photographs.

Now I am tuned into it I have seen other 996s with similar lines, has anyone else seen this? Is it the way that the bumper is moulded? It is an official Porsche part but I am sure that my original bumper was ok.

Richard, thanks for the reply. I think its both sides but to be honest you have to look very hard for it on the nearside.

This is the photograph I took, you can just see the step change in reflection of my garage roof in the paintwork. In real life its easier to see but not today since its under 6 inches of snow.

Here is another with the same line. Difficult to see in the photograph other than in the reflection but it is in the same place.

I think it must be my old eyes. I still can't pick up anything from the photos. I've been out and had a really good look at mine, but I can't see any moulding marks or anything similar. My PU was repainted not long before I got the car, so if there was any imperfection, maybe it was sorted out at the time.

I took my car back to Bodytechnic and they told me that it is a moulding issue with the bumpers. Actually it is on both sides. Its very subtle but they were very good and could see it themselves. They told me to bring it back if it really bothered me.

New problem tonight flat rear tyre. New Pirelli P Zero Rossos all round on 20 December. [:(]
