Not over the moon with the headlamp performance of my (non-Xenon) headlamps on my 996. What are the options for upgrading?

Mark,

have a look here for some ideas...Headlight Upgrades

The Xenon bulb swap does make quite big difference, but is limited by the std headlamp lens. Lits are probably a bit better again, but not so sure you can do a swap over on the facelifted 996.

Thanks for the pointers. Seems the Litronics is big money but some sort of intermediate upgrade is worth having.

You could start by getting some decent bulbs. I bought some Philips Vision Plus H7's from www.powerbulbs.co.uk which were a worthwhile improvement. Best £42 (for 2 pairs) I have spent on the car. I did have PIAA Super Whites in my 993 - very good, but they really aren't worth the extra money. I also found that my headlights were adjusted a bit low. Jacking them up a fraction made a big difference.

I have a post facelift car and it looks like the bulbs for the dipped and main are different H7/H9. Were they the same for your car?

Mine is (very) pre-facelift and uses H7's in both main and dip. Go with what it says in your manual. The PowerBulbs selector gave the wrong bulb sizes for mine the first time I used it. They are very helpful if you give them a call, and excellent service. No affiliation I hasten to add.
