Anyone having trouble with the standard headlights,I could shine a torch further than mine on my 2002 C2. Anyone upgraded theres.

I believe last months 911 and Porsche world had an article on changing the standard lights for the xenon variety. I think it was on a 964? Anyway no doubt the principle is the same.

I don't know what you are complaining about anyway. Your headlights will be like a lighthouse compared to my 3.2 Carrera's candles!

Have you checked they are aligned correctly first? It's amazing how many 944 owners complain about the headlights and then realise they are pointing down and also filthy because the pop-ups were down at the last wash [8|]

It's just my personal opinion but I think these modern lights are simply too bright and dangerous [] to dazzle other roadusers (where's the smiley for me on my soapbox? )

I also have a 330 sport BMW with standard lights these are excellent, so i compare my 911 to them. I rang tech 9 who recomended a zenon upgrade at £850 all in.

I only had my 996 two days a decided to upgrade to Xenon.
This was easy for me as I retail this conversion.
The kit contains:
2 ballasts
2 igniters
2 hi / lo beam controllers (H4 kits only)
2 HID Xenon capsules
Wiring loom and connectors
Upgrade fuse
Mounting plates, cable ties
Adhesive pads etc.
Waterproofing grommets
Installation instructions

It's a fairly easy DIY job and the results are excellent.

Really interested to read the discussion about headlights as I am experiencing the same problem on my '03 C4- although I already have the Litronic option fitted !

Main beam is excellent but dipped headlamps provide a limited spread with a very sharp cut off - a problem on un-lit roads where there is intermittent traffic coming the other way.

Do I need to get my eyes tested or have I simply been spoiled by the excellent headlamps on my previous car, a Mercedes S-Class ?

Graham.

This does not seem right - the dipped beam is the litronic only bit.

Are the beams coming back up again after they dip down to calibrate when they are switched on? You should be able to see the beam lower and rise back up to the standard "dip" position.
