afternoon ,
after many months of waiting the engine rebuild on my 3.4 996 is done , Hartech sorted the bottom end and Coltech Racing repaired the cracked head and rebuilt the engine, the problem I now have is that the company that removed the engine will not take the car back and put it back together .
I have spoken to Auto Strasse and they will not take the car , I am now stuck.

Does anyone know a company that will take it on? I am in Essex.

thanks

I've taken my own engine out to fit the ims solution in my c4s. To be honest it's a very simple job. Why won't they put it back in? Something fishy?

OP - are you really saying that two garages will not refit your engine to your car at your expense? That strikes me as odd as I'd expect them to be glad of the work/money.
Would you bring the car up to Suffolk?

Hi Richard,
Yes, I hadn't thought of that.
Where the repair work has been completed by two different companies, neither of whom it seems wants the responsibility of completing the job, why would a third party take it on and potentially inherit the blame for any faults that surface after they've put the engine together.

i honestly don't know why, the list of excuses are basically poor, reading between the lines they say my car is a bad egg and have decided to not work on it anymore .. even though i have rectified the issues they highlighted using an engineering firm they recommended,

hi there ,

the head has been repaired by a company in suffolk, Coltech racing, the block was sent to Hartech for evaluation , they recommended some strengthening and other small works but in the whole they gave it a clean bill of health, Coltech then rebuilt the whole engine with new official parts from OPC colchester , the garage that removed the engine do not want to refit it as they didn't do it, even though they found Coltech to do the work !! an impossible situation.

Yes , the car can come to suffolk , do you have someone in mind?

hi Richard,

i understand that to a point , but i have already assured them that i would not put any onus on them, lets just get it back together , like i said Hartech have checked the block and done some small works, Coltech in suffolk have a great reputation in the classic car world preparing many cars for the mille miglia , as Hartech and Coltech are both well known i have total confidence in the works carried.

Very disappointed with a so called German car specialist in Chelmsford , they should never have taken to work on if they couldn't finish it:(

morning ,

one company diagnosed engine issues , but did not have the tools/machinery to repair the cracked head, hence Coltech Racing in Suffolk took the engine apart and repaired it , I sent the Block to Hartech for strengthening and to get their opinion, now all back together as a short engine.

Coltech have rebuilt the engine, the company that initially removed the engine will now not put the jigsaw back together , i can understand AutoStrassse as they have had nothing to do with it and i don't blame them for not taking the job, my thinking was that they know these cars inside out and they are local to me , its a jigsaw thats needs putting back together !!

+ 1 for HP Motorsport in Hainault or if you can stretch to go to St Alban's. Jaz Steve Winter would be my choice.
Good Luck.
