Hi All
1 year into owning a 2001 996 C2 coupe 3.4 76K miles sunroof delete 18inch BBS split rims - and loving it.
Various work done to date including IMS, Clutch, Waterpump, Coffin arms, Tuning forks, bushes, steering rack bits and bobs and a full geo suspension check and alignment with Chris at Centre Gravity.
Now I’ve got the car as near to standard and as set-up as possible and I’m reasonably happy. Most of my driving is 60% UK bumpy B roads and 40% fast A roads. I like a fast GT car feel as opposed to the full teeth rattling racing everywhere like a nutcase Cayman gig.
Question..I’ve been contemplating a suspension upgrade and I’m intrigued by the new Koni Special Active dampers.
My car is on standard springs that have "settled” such that the ride height is approx 10mm lower than it would have been out of the factory. The Koni dampers seem to be new technology similar to much more expensive Ohlins and PASM systems - I like the idea of keeping my car as pure and standard as possible but I do wonder if adding these newer Koni active technology dampers could be a really worthwhile upgrade?
Anyone any experience and should I consider replacing springs at the same as dampers?
My dilemma - Koni Special Actives or Bilstein B4’s? change springs?
I like the current ride height and have no desire to change/lower.
Thanks in advance for any thoughts/comments/experience.
Cheers
Colin
