996 lock-out

In the very best tradition of the sad bastards who write to the medical pages of daily newspapers saying " I have a friend who has a very small todger and thinks that girls are laughing at him, what can I advise him to do about it", I am now saying that I have a friend who allowed his early 996's battery to run down, thereby locking himself out of his car and away from the handbook, what, if anything, are the special steps to take before using the key to gain access ? I think that there are certain rules to apply in order to ensure todger growth, I mean to be able to get in the bloody car ! Is that not right ?

It says in our handbook that you should be able to open the door with the key and not set off the alarm because the battery is flat. You then have access to your handbook.

On our Turbo this all involves a donor battery and where to connect it in the specific position in the fuse box and the door catch. But please read your own handbook first!!

(PS. What do you need a big todger for if you have a Porsche?? [:eek:])
 
I would of thought the long metal thing that has the remote attached to it would still work! (sometimes described as "the Key")

I know it sounds as if a bit of physical work may be involved, but this could get the so extended todger into place..:ROFLMAO:

Then its the Fag lighter booster fitting if the bonnet won't open..

Right, I have got into the bloody thing ( or actually, I mean my mate has ! ). He wants to know now how he can get into the boot. What is the fag lighter booster thing ? Of course I expect that he can find it all in mentioned in the Handbook, but then he'd have to forgo on the humourous banter of getting first class advice from this Forum !

Connect one terminal of your jump start battery to the little metal blade in the footwell where the circuit breakers live. This should give you enough to pop the boot release. I have no idea whether it's the +ve or -ve lead you should use though so I accept no responsibility for you frying your electrics..... [:D][:D] (mainly 'cos I can't be bothered to go out to the car and get the handbook).
 
The fag lighter is a simple fitting which has the 12volt fag lighter going to to crocodile clips, this usually gives enough boost to let your "Friend" gain entry to the boot.
Tip is Positive, ring is negative..or as John says, go straight to the fuse box on the A post.

I'm glad this has happened to a Friend, I bet your taking the P*ss out of him[;)]

The jumper in the fuse box did not start until 2001. Prior to then the trunk releases were mechanical. If the alarm was on and the battery died you could not pull up on the levers. Try charging through the lighter if the lighter is live all the time. Or there are other ways to get in the trunks. http://www.renntech.org/forums/index.php?showtopic=2751&st=0
