996 lowered springs before and after anyone?

Chaps, I'm sure someone here will have lowered their 996? Most road spring kits seem to offer a 30mm lower ride height. Some designs offer improved performance - reduced squat etc.

I'm not offended by the manufacturer's ride height, possibly because my youth was mis-spent in rallying where a bit of extra ride height never went amiss.

I'm looking for before and after shots of a 996 with standard and lowered ride height to help inform my decision.

Help please?
 
Hi Pete, am sure if you look at pics of GT3s, you will see the effect of lowered suspension.....I have a set of Bilstein GT3 suspension that I have been thinking of fitting...however, the 996 does have quite a long overhang and in my case, with the GT3 nose and splitter fitted, the backroads and speed bumps of East Anglia have occasionally left their audible mark on the front splitter even at standard ride height.
 
Hi Stuart, must you mention the eggbox smooth roads of East Anglia?
Actually I'm glad that you did as I started by being ambivalent about lower ride height and, frankly, I'm losing interest fast.

Pete, actually reflecting over the past few months of driving, it is multi storey car park ramps that can cause impromptu scraping!
 
If you haven't got front a splitter you shouldn't have a problem with 10 or 20mm lowering springs. Maybe the M030 springs (or complete package) might be a good compromise.

Negligible if any settling at all - unless the spring breaks of course!

Once they are installed and seated thats pretty much it.

The rear springs on a Turbo or GT3 can tend to sag after time, giving a slight nose-up attitude. It happened on mine, and I have heard it happening on others. Carreras seem fine though. Chris Franklin sorted it out for me when I had the suspension rebuilt.
 
I asked about spring settling because my GTS ride height front went from 126mm at 14300 miles to 121mm at 21600 miles, whereas the rear remained the same at 143mm. Tread depth front were respectively centre of tread, 7.3mm and 4.4mm, all per Centre Gravity printouts.

Maybe due to a heavier engine?
