996 M030 suspension

Hi, looking for some opinions from those in the know :)

My car is fitted with the upgraded M030 suspension and while I test drove other 996 on standard I've forgotten how they feel and compare. The M030 is very nice on surfaces that are reasonable but can be tedious where it is not.
So, what I'm interested to hear about is from people who have owned cars with both standard and M030 and their views on the differences. I'd also like to hear from those who have upgraded to alternative suspension kits what kits they bought and how they all compare. Tricky enough little question for Sunday evening but would appreciate peoples views.

While I agree M030 can be slightly tiring on the bumpy stuff when your not in the mood, it is VASTLY superior to the standard set up from a handling, involvement, interactive perspective!

When pushed the standard set up rolls, floats and pitches far more & it also under-steers much more, its fine at 6/10ths & in town but up the pace & frankly it falls apart in comparison. Porsche designed the standard 996 to be far more GT-esq, 030 returns the focus to sports car alla 993, combined with a sports exhaust it's a must have for the keen driver! I made the move from pre-facelift 030 to facelift standard & simply did not bond with the standard car at all.

Can't comment on aftermarket stuff, Porks best left original IMO, but I'm sure some one will be along to disagree in a while[;)]!!!

So it all depends if you want a sports car, great GT, or track car (X-74) pay your money & take your choice as they say! Of course with the 997 you can now have your cake & eat it, PASM offers the control without much of the harshness.

Thanks for reply, I must go for a spin in a 996 non-M030 again so also a 997 PASM.
I do find since I put on the new Michelins that between them and the 030 it all works very nicely but as said some days it can be tedious.

Any other comments appreciated...

I have a 996 with 030 and have driven a car with standard setup but only as a test drive

I have absolutely no handling problems with the 030 suspension, which is pretty much the only option i have from a standard car. No PSM either ! It's how the car should be !

I have M030 also, I know what you mean about it being a little bumpy down roads that are not perfect but it's fine and as I have never driven one without would not know any difference. If you have not for a PSE you must get one , you won't regret it .

It pleases me to see plenty of you enjoying your 996's with 030.. this is how a 996 911 should be equipped .. its a sports car[;)].
So many 993-ites write off the 996 as "soft.. diluted etc" simply add 030 + a sports exhaust & the 996 runs rings around the 993[:D]!

....and some Michelins [;)]
Looks like we all like the 030 so. I would still like to try without just to see what the difference is.

I've had a 996 with standard setup for 4 years now, this year I took the plundge and changed the anti roll bars to M030, what a difference its like a new car, reading your reports on the full M030 setup I think I will have to dig a little deeper to enjoy the full benefits, by the way I allready have the PSE fitted.

Welcome Stephen!

I have a set of M030 shockers that I took off my C2 at about 51,000 miles. They were fine when I took them off, and have been gathering dust under my workbench ever since. If you are interested drop me an email. Yours (or anyone else's) for £30 (not including delivery). You would need to get the springs though, as they lower the car by 10mm.
