996 Newbie with Exhaust Disappointment!

Hi folks!

Picked up a lovely looking 996 C4S at the weekend and thought I'd found the perfect one.

However it seems the seller made a genuine mistake and I found out shortly afterwards that it didn't have the sports exhaust he thought it had!

I was a bit gutted to find this out, but it's a really nice example aside from that so I shouldn't be too downhearted really.

So basically.. I'm on the hunt for a Porsche Sports Exhaust that I can ideally add the switch to. So if anyone has one kicking about or knows of one, it would be hugely appreciated if you could let me know!

The car is amazing apart from that ... oh and the flat battery it treated me to on Monday as well!

Cheers!!

Dave.

Why not go with the much cheaper exhaust bypass. Google gundo hack or bypass modification. You can have this done from anything between 200-300 pounds

Thanks guys.

It's the original exhaust that's on mine so not sure I want to Gundo it when it'll probably need replaced in the not too distant future anyway.

When I replace it, I want a sports exhaust of some sort... but.... as I use the car daily it would be handy to have the quiet button on the dash to help avoid annoying the neighbours at the crack of dawn etc.

At this point I'm holding out hope I'll find a PSE ... switchable or not .. and see where it takes me. If that fails, I'll stick a dansk or something on it in a few months probably.

Cheers!

Dave.

Out of interest though... Does anyone know of anyone in central Scotland who does the Gundo type hack as a drive in type service or similar??

Cheers!

Dave.

Stainless Creations in Falkirk do this mod. I have no experience of them, I just found this info on another post. i like the sound of this mod but am slightly chicken to have it done...

Cheers

I can highly recommend Carnewal replacement mufflers which can be mail ordered from Belgium.I replaced my standard 2002 mufflers on my 996 Targa with Carnewal replacements. These are not switchable but are standard 996 stock items that have been expertly opened up by Gert & "fettled" inside to give a great sound. They are not too loud or boomy & make the engine note sound more like an air cooled 911.

I have been really pleased with the product & results.....cost was 500 euros incl p&p + fitting at my local specialist.
