Hi All
Have just got a 2002 996 4s. Can anyone tell me how I can find out how to decode the options as I have 17 of them on my service book and can only find out a few of them.
thanks Tracy xxx

Hi Tracy,
there are a number of sites where you can get these from, but none seem to cover them all, post them here & we will see what we can do for you.
Cheers

Hi Tracy,
the trouble is Porsche have so many option codes & things become particularly difficult once you start choosing from the Exclusive catalogue
The code 09991- is a pre-fix that means items have been selected from the exclusives option list, these are "special" items fitted at the factory, but additional to the usual long list of options. So your beast has some exclusive items fitted & this is one of the reasons why it's hard to track down the codes
376 is painted sports seat backs
375 may be "clutch without aspestos", but suspect it is another exclusive.
If you want to know exactly what the options are your best bet is to contact Porsche GB Phone 01189303666 & ask for customer relations, providing your car is a UK model (you can tell by checking in your hand book or under the bonnet, the first number of the option codes on VIL sticker is the country code, this should be C16) they will check & get back to you.
Best of luck, sorry I couldn't find all the options let us know how you get on.

the first number of the option codes on VIL sticker is the country code, this should be C16)

Not always the case mine begins with 030 (sports suspension) despite being ordered and delivered to Lovetts in Bristol C16 does not appear on my sticker either under the bonnet or in the service book.

JCB..

Hi JCB,
yup does seem to be missing on some VIL's, seems to be high spec models in the main, have you got lot's of extra goodies on the car. Having said this most do start with the country code.
Cheers

Hi Everyone
Thanks to all of you for the info. We only now have 3 options not decoded so will ring Porsche customer services as advised.
Thanks again
Tracy xxxx

I have a file I have collected over a few years with these codes.
This is what I find. Not sure how correct it is:

375 Clutch lining without asbestos
501 Turbo Insignia

Hi Tim
Cliff is my husbands name though it does annoy me when he tries to drive the 996 in my high heels!!!!

All this code stuff is fascinating, so I tried the link provided by Tim - however theres lots of things I can't find that I know my car has(had) such as Sports Exhaust, Sunroof, Electric Heated Memory Seats, Litronics, Side Skirts, Park Assist and Sports Design Wheels.
The results I got were:-

Code Option Description
09991 manufacture from the exclusive-programme
C16 UK LUX spec: tinted windows, metallic paint, and a few other goodies.
X76 Flared Rocker Panels
X97 Aluminium/leather shift knob
X98 Aluminium/leather parking break handle
XJ4 Leather Ignition Lock Rosette
XN3 Leather Fresh Air Side Dash Vents (standard with Package Y65)
XV1 Leather Covered Ventilating Cover (standard with Y65)

And the codes on my service book sticker were:

c16 xkl xlf xm2 xng xnn xnu xrl xj4 xn3 xv1 x76 x97 x98 226 09991

Do you think the Exclusive Programme or UK Lux spec include some of the missing codes?
Regards
Dave

Dave I hope this helps, a lot of extra leather goodies on your car.
xkl - loud speakers in leather
xmz-rear centre consul in leather
xng - defrost trim in leather
xnn - central air vent in leather
xnu - trim strip in leather

Melun, I'm not sure on the two you haven't had answered, think they may be Hi-fi related.
