When switched into loud mode, there appears to be certain bands where it switches to quiet automatically - normally around 3000 rpm and comes back in again after a certain time.

I have heard in the past this is for trackday driveby noise regs - is this true?

More importantly, is there a way of disabling this? When I want it quiet, I will switch it myself!

Thanks in advance

Paul

Paul,

It's speed related not RPM and to enable the PSE to pass German road drive by noise tests. Mine goes quiet at 28/9mph and regains normal volume at 43ish mph.

I use it as a safety feature: If I'm burbling along in a built up area I'm within the 30 limit.

I can assure that on track days you spend the vast majority of the time between 5,000 and 7,200 rpm.

Regards

Thanks for that - the speed thing makes sense as it is at different rpm's in the gears but at similar speeds to your's - I'll check tomorrow.

Good point on track day rpm there!

Cheers
Paul

Not sure if this is what you are looking for Paul,
But over on RennTech Loren has posted the instructions on how to remove the 'quiet' part whist still leaving the dash switch operational.

All credits for this go to Loren on RennTech.org...so I hope there are no issues with me posting the link here
